Sunday Fun Club

The Sunday Fun Club meets every week except the last Sunday in the month. We meet in St Mary's Hall, next to the Church. Fun Club starts at 9:45am. This gives parents time to drop their children off and then go on into church for the 10 o'clock service. We finish at 11:15 when the adults come in for coffee after the service.

There are two groups; one for ages 0 to 5 and the other for ages 6 - 10. The children are in the process of choosing new names for these groups. We begin all together upstairs in St Mary's Hall with a song and prayer and then the groups separate for their activities. Teaching is from the Children's Ministry Teaching Programme: activities include singing, craft work, games and stories. We join the adults in church for a short time; we receive communion or a blessing and then return to St Mary's Hall for our final song.

The lemus is a type of monkey and is only found in Madagascar.

Recently we have been forging links between the Sunday Schools. St Mary's Fun Club has learnt about aspects of life in Madagascar and there has been an exchange of letters, information and photos. Here are some of our pictures:

Little buses called taxi brousses carry people and their luggage. These animals are called zebu. They are important in Madagascar. They are very strong and can pull carts and wagons. The trees you can see are baobab trees. They have thick trunks that hold lots of water. Some trees are more than one thousand years old.
The lemus is a type of monkey and is only found in Madagascar. Madagascar is famous for its chameleons and lemurs. The pousse-pousse is a little cart pulled by a person and used to carry people or things. They are highly decorated and very colourful.

Funds raised by the Sunday Fun Club have been used to buy stationery and materials for the Madagascar Sunday School.
