Stave

The Music Group was first formed in 1992 and amazingly several founder members are still part of the present group; our younger members are usually with us through their school years, and then leave as they go off to University.

We provide the musical accompaniment for the less formal Morning Worship service at Church on the last Sunday of each month, and for the annual Christingle service. Any occasion involving entertainment is certain to include some input from the group, where we offer a broad repertoire of secular music and work with an augmented church choir.

Currently the group consists of two violins, tenor recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone, xylophone, rhythm guitar and piano. Last year some choir members joined us and we have been pleased with the effect of vocalists to lead the singing and help with the introduction of new items: we are able to maintain a wide range of traditional, modern and children's hymns and songs.

We are always pleased to welcome new members, particularly in the rhythm section although almost any instrument would be acceptable (with the possible exception of Bagpipes!). Rehearsals are flexible according to need, but usually happen only once a month; they are held on Sundays at 5pm in church.
