Information for a Wedding
at St. Mary's

Wedding rings

Procedure:

After making the provisional booking, contact the Parish Office 14 weeks prior to your wedding date in order to fill out the appropriate forms.

Banns of Marriage:

It is a legal requirement that banns be called on three consecutive Sundays prior to the wedding. One or both of you must be resident within the parish in order to be married by either banns or common licence. Banns of marriage is a process whereby the names of those intending to be married are called out on three consecutive Sundays in the churches in the parishes where they reside. These are called out at the main public service on a Sunday morning. If one of you lives outside this parish then the banns are read in your local parish as well, and a banns certificate is issued which is given to the Parish Office here.
