On the 6th June Jean Watson, a member of the Drop In, kept silent for 3 hours in connection with the 'Auction of Promises' held recently.
For a lady in her 80s and one who loves company and talking, it was a marvellous achievement, particularly as it was done in St. Mary's Community Centre with her friends from the Drop In close by and with Michael Thompsett there to see that there was no cheating.
Jean was sponsored by people from the Church and others she approached and overall she made well over £200 at the first count, which was great.
This goes to prove that no one is too old to do a charity event. We cannot emphasise too much, Jean well done and congratulations!
