whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked
1 John 2:6
The acronym BELLS stands for Bless, Eat, Listen, Learn and Sent.
St Mary’s has adopted this as our set of values in the church and we try to include these elements in events that we hold and how we live.
An example of how we have used this can be seen in two monthly activities we hold, Messy Church and the Men’s Breakfast Club.
At both we provide an environment which we hope is fun and we ‘bless’ or ‘bring happiness’ to those attending.
We provide food at both events, a simple tea for the children at Messy Church and a breakfast, cooked if wanted, at the Men’s Breakfast Club.
At both events, we share with each other and we listen to one another, including the children at Messy Church.
Learning is achieved by a short talk, normally by Captain Graham Nunn at Messy Church and from invited speakers at Men’s Breakfast Club so that we can grow in our understanding of God’s word.
Lastly, we achieve Sent by reaching out to non-Christians and Christians alike by inviting them to these two events.
These are just 2 examples of how we are implementing BELLS into our lives here at St Mary’s. You can find out more about each aspect by going to the individual pages Bless, Eat, Listen, Learn, Sent.
